Regarding cancellation of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) Commencement/Graduation Ceremony

To students who will be graduating this spring and their family members:
TUAT Commencement/Graduation Ceremony was scheduled to take place at Fuchu-no-Mori Art Theater in Fuchu on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. However, due the unexpected spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), we are extremely sad to inform you that we have decided to cancel the ceremony.
We have had considered alternative ways to proceed with the ceremony: while reducing the scale, shortening the time of the ceremony and taking necessary measures for preventing the spread of COVID-19. However, after considering that the health and safety issues involving our students and their family members, and containing further spread of COVID-19 must take priority; we concluded to cancel the ceremony.
Although the ceremony will not take place, your diploma will be handed to you through the laboratory you belong to. For those who do not belong to laboratories, your diploma will be handed to you from the department which you belong to.
In the meanwhile, the president’s farewell address will be uploaded to the TUAT website.
